Manitoba Wildlife

Fur, antlers, and the occasional fox, photographed across the province.

Not everything I photograph has feathers. On the same walks that lead me to marshes and woodlots, I cross paths with the animals that share them: deer stepping out of the tree line at dawn, foxes working the edges of a field, squirrels racing along a fence, and bison grazing on the open prairie.

Wildlife photography here is mostly patience. I move slowly, keep my distance, and let the animals decide how close the moment gets, which is why many of these frames are made from a long way off with a long lens.

This collection is just getting started. Each page below is one species, with the photographs I’m proudest of from across the province. Pick an animal and wander along with me.
