White-tailed jackrabbit
The white-tailed jackrabbit is a large, long-legged hare of the open prairie, with tall black-tipped ears and a lean body built for speed.
It lives in grassland and farmland, where it relies on its camouflage and a burst of speed to escape predators, and it turns white in winter.
The tall black-tipped ears of a white-tailed jackrabbit seem to catch every sound on the open prairie, and I love that.
