Streets and city

Cities reward the same patience as the prairie. I walk the streets early or late, when the light is low and the crowds have thinned, looking for strong light, simple shapes, and one thing that holds the frame. That might be a streetlight in fog, a storefront sign, or someone crossing at the right moment.

Black and white suits the streets. Brick, concrete, steel, and painted signs are already close to monochrome, and without colour a fire escape, a shadow across a wall, or a figure in a doorway becomes the whole picture.

This collection gathers buildings, cars, and people from the cities I have walked through. A few old cars have wandered in from fields and yards, because they belong to the same story of things people built and left behind.
